Arsenal still favourites to sign Julian Draxler [Jan Aage Fjortoft]

Former Swindon and Middlesbrough forward Jan Aage Fjortoft is now a very well connected pundit in Germany.

Fjortoft was ahead of the game when it came to predicting Mesut Ozil’s transfer to Arsenal on the final day of the summer transfer window, and had some intriguing transfer news for the Gunners on Sunday night.

Arsenal are still favourites to sign Schalke youngster Julian Draxler who can leave the Bundesliga side for 45 million euros at the end of the 2013/3014 season.

Draxler was recently given a tour of the Arsenal training ground and the Emirates by Arsene Wenger and is believed to be keen to link up with the likes of Ozil, Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Serge Gnabry.

After a stunning start to the season, Draxler’s form has dropped off a bit but there is no doubt that the 20-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in Europe.

If the Gunners do bring in Draxler they would be closing in on on the best collection of playmaker midfielders, anywhere on the continent.
