Spanish paper Sport are claiming that Arsenal scout Stewart Houston was at the Camp Nou on Saturday night.
Rather than looking at players from Barcelona or Atletico Madrid that the Gunners could be interested in, Houston was in Spain to make notes on Arsenal’s upcoming Champions League opponents.
Sport called 66-year-old Houston a “specialist in monitoring and reporting on rivals”.
The Gunners take on Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The first leg is at the Emirates Stadium on February 23, while the return leg in Barcelona is on March 16.
Diego Simeone’s charges took the lead through Koke, however Barcelona levelled on the half hour when Jordi Alba, and Neymar combined before Leo Messi applied the clinical finish.
Barca went into the break in the lead when Dani Alves’ ball over the top was finished by Luis Suarez.
Atleti had Filipe Luis red carded for a terrible foul on Messi on the stroke of halftime, while Diego Godin was sent off for Atleti in the second half for two bookings.
