Say what you want about Arsenal and their trophy less recent seasons but there is always a buzz in the air when a new campaign begins at the Emirates with both new signings and emerging young players coming to the fore.
We have already featured on 101gg Marouane Chamakh’s performance v AC Milan and Jack Wilshere’s barnstorming volley against the Celtic bar, but still have a host of videos from Arsenal’s games at the Emirates Cup over the weekend.
First up is new French defender Laurent Koscielny’s performance against AC Milan. The unknown right footed central defender (pictured)Â immediately impressed during his debut at the Emirates, winning a number of duels on the ground and in the air.
The fact he is wearing the Arsenal number six shirt and bears some sort of resemblance to a gangly Tony Adams will not have gone unnoticed by Gooners. Arsene Wenger may well have found another previously unknown diamond.
Following the 1-1 draw with the Rossoneri, Wenger also urged England to secure the future of Emmanuel Frimpong who is eligible for both Ghana and England at senior international level.
The 18-year-old put in a strong performance in the middle of the park against the Italian giants and looks a more than adequate replacement for Alexandre Song in the Arsenal first team. Frimpong also spoke of his future at the club over the weekend.
And there is also video of Tomas Rosicky’s performances against both AC Milan and the 3-2 victory over Celtic on Sunday. The Czech midfielder linked up well with the likes of Samir Nasri, Jack Wilshere and Carlos Vela and if he stays fit could be key for the Gunners this season.
Finally, there is also footage of Arsenal lifting the Emirates Cup.
