Brazilian defender Gabriel Paulista was making an encouraging start to life in London, despite not having a full command of English yet.
The former Villarreal defender played well against Everton on Sunday and looked to be establishing himself in the Arsenal first team.
On Wednesday night, Gabriel Paulista started for Arsenal at QPR with Laurent Koscielny rested on the bench.
However, the Brazilian defender only lasted on the pitch for 37 minutes before being replaced by Arsenal’s French central defender.
According to reports, Gabriel Paulista picked up a hamstring injury and Arsenal fans were not happy!
Arsenal’s injury list is pretty famously long and many fingers have been pointed at Arsene Wenger and his medical staff over the past few seasons.
Considering Arsenal brought in Gabriel Paulista as they were short in central defence, this was pretty much the worst injury news the Gunners could have as they chase a top four finish and are still in the FA Cup and Champions League.

Hope Gabriel recovers soon! Shame to loose him as he was playing good and it would have been a massive step forward in his Arsenal career!

Gabriel has successfully completed Level 1 of his Arsenal career. Level 2 – the "injury setback" – is his next challenge.
