When is a pre-season friendly not just a pre-season friendly? When players like Santi Cazorla elevate it to something more.

The little magician captured the heart of every Arsenal fan watching their comfortable win over Everton in the Barclays Asian Trophy final.

First he provided the assist that opened the scoring. Although Theo Walcott put the ball in the back of the net, this was Cazorla’s goal.

The Spaniard hit a sumptuous ball over the top of the defence for Walcott to chase and put past the advancing Joel Robles.

Then, after the break, he actually did put the ball in the back of the net himself.

Picking the ball up on the edge of the box, Cazorla twisted and turned, bamboozling Everton defenders, before rifling a finish into the bottom corner.

Finally, before going off to a standing ovation, the two-footed magician played a one-two with Mesut Ozil for the German’s goal which sealed the win.
