Danny Welbeck has undergone surgery on his left knee and will be out for a “period of months, according to the Arsenal website.
The former Manchester United striker had been working throughout the summer in order to regain fitness after picking up a knee injury in April.
He suffered a setback after having his training workload increased and the club last week decided to send Danny Welbeck in for knee surgery.
Having had their hopes dashed of a new striker this summer, Arsenal fans will be understandably upset at the news regarding the 24-year-old forward.
Arsene Wenger is currently relying on Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott up front – neither of which are setting the world on fire.
As the only club in Europe’s top 5 leagues who failed to sign an outfield player, Piers Morgan was quick to voice his anger towards the veteran French manager on social media.

Piers Morgan was not the only Arsenal fan venting his anger towards Arsene Wenger…
Why is Wenger never truthful about injuries as well? Swear he said Welbeck would be back in 2 weeks. He obviously knew this wouldn’t be.

WENGER KNEW WELBECK HAD SURGERY AND KNEW HE COULDN'T PLAY AND HE STILL DIDNT SIGN.

Wenger knew months ago that Welbeck wasn't right and he didn't do anything about it. Dzeko was there. Jackson was there.

If you still believe Wenger is the right person to lead us, you are a complete idiot. The way #Arsenal is run under him is disgusting.
