Antonio Valencia appeared to have a subtle dig at Manchester United fans on Twitter earlier today. The midfielder is currently away on international duty with Ecuador.
He posted a picture of himself smiling during training and the caption appeared to hint that he felt less pressure when he was captaining his country than playing for United.
Mentioning that he was enjoying life and ignoring criticism, he wrote: “The errors are assumed. The experiences are lived. The criticisms are ignored. Life is enjoyed. Come on, Ecuador!!”
Valencia has faced criticism this season from United fans for his poor performances in his role as a utility right-back and it’s clearly annoyed the player.
The player was at fault for the goal United conceded against Wolfsburg in the Champions League last week, playing an opponent onside after not stepping out with the rest of the defence.
He was also the scorn of United fans last season after giving the ball away for an easy Arsenal goal that would knock his side out of the FA Cup.
Some disgruntled United fans recently started a petition for the club to sell Valencia.
