The Sunday Times have an explosive report for Manchester United fans on the front page of their weekend sport section.
Duncan Castles serves United with a double whammy, first claiming that largely failed striker Radamel Falcao could end up cost the Red Devils more than £25 million.
Then, in arguably a more bitter blow, it’s reported that Argentine international Angel Di Maria has decided to quit Old Trafford as soon as possible, with the Noodle looking for a “summer escape” from the Theatre of Dreams.
On Falcao’s costs, The Times disclose that United agreed a one-year loan deal with AS Monaco for the forward for €10 million, but “once after-tax wages and other costs were factored in” that figure skyrocketed up to €35 million.
Whilst it’s been known for some time, however, that Falcao was set to leave United at the end of the season, the Di Maria news is more shocking.
Somewhat annoyingly, the article fails to specify why Di Maria is so unhappy at the club, although it goes without saying that the £59.7 million signing has not lived up to expectation this year.
PSG are listed as a possible suitor for Di Maria.
