Whilst Barcelona were cruising into the Copa del Rey final with an 8-0 aggregate win over Almeria, Real Madrid were handed a real piece of fortune in their match with Sevilla last night.
Leading 1-0 from the first leg, Sevilla were bright in the opening period and scored what appears to be a legal goal through Alvaro Negredo, that only gets worse the more often you see it.
Didier Zokora played a ball through to Negredo who is just onside, level with Ricardo Carvalho (if not level, then there is no daylight here) and produces an excellent finish, first time, over Iker Casillas.
Sevilla coach Gregorio Manzano said after the game: “It seemed to me that Negredo goal was valid, and this could have changed the tie. The script could have been written differently.”
You’ve also got to feel sorry for Alvaro Negredo who must have been desperate to do well at the Bernabeu after being sold by Real Madrid twice in his career.
