A comedy keeper og you won’t have seen: Wang Zhenpeng (Kitchee) vs TSW Pegasus

“There is no problem with our defence… The second goal was not the responsibility of the goalkeeper [Wang Zhenpeng]. Maybe he had difficulty seeing the ball clearly under the floodlights. In the end, it was a matter of luck.” – Kitchee president Ken Ng Kin.

Ken Ng Kin offered one interpretation of events that kindly excused keeper Wang Zhenpeng of any wrongdoing.

An alternative reading of the situation however, was that the Kitchee keeper ridiculously punched an injury time cross into his own net to settle a crucial top-of-the-table clash in Hong Kong.

To recap, last weekend Kitchee (who started in first place) travelled to nearest rivals TSW Pegasus and heading into injury time the match was level at 1-1.

With the sands of time evaporating Pegasus were the team on the ascendancy though, and they were rewarded for their endevour when a Leandro Silva cross was palmed into his own net by goalie Wang Zhenpeng, when catching the ball appeared routine.
