Few outside of Ghana will ever have heard of Amidu Salifu.
The teenage African midfielder was snapped by Fiorentina at the start of the year from Serie B outfit Vicenza for 2.4 million euros, however so far the 18-year-old has been restricted to just one Serie A appearance for the Viola.
At the start of the week the youngster was given another chance to shine in a friendly with Cortina, and he seized his opportunity with both hands scoring a solo stunner in a 12-nil win.
Already 5-nil up by the 39th minute, Amidu Salifu collected an semi-defended cross out wide on the left hand side. Then, favouring his right foot over his left, Salifu cut infield past two defenders before jinking his way goalwards past a third.
As another Cortina defender arrived on the scene Salifu again managed to wriggle free courtesy of his quick feet. Then, despite his momentum seemingly set to topple him over, Salifu managed to beat a fifth defender in less than five seconds as he bore down on goal.
By this stage he only had the keeper to beat and, like a pro, he shimmied his way past his sixth Cortina opponent before sticking the ball in the net.
Staying with Fiorentina, eye-witness footage caught coach Sinisa Mihajlovic schooling keeper Sebastian Frey with a couple of set-plays this week.
