Although only a few people took any notice, Wednesday was a brilliant night of football in Romania.
The headline story came in the relegation 6-pointer between Petrolul Ploiesti and Concordia Chiajna.
With the hosts 3-1 up with five minutes remaining, goals from Alex (85th & 90th) and another from the wonderfully named Viorel Dinu II in the 93rd minute saw Chiajna claim an incredible 3-4 away win.
Accompanying the dramatic though, was also the beautiful.
The relatively uninteresting match between mid-table sides Universitatea Cluj and Astra Ploiesti was put on the map by an incredible strike from Gheorghe Grozav in the hosts’ 3-1 victory.
With 15 minutes left to play and the scores locked at one apiece, a fine cross from the Universitatea right pinpointed Grozav in the Astra area. The 21-year-old forward then took over, connecting with an incredible bicycle-kick that rocketed into the top corner.
