This is certainly Spain’s fiercest and most vibrant derby but this particular meeting will have something extra about it.
Papu Gómez gave the visitors the lead that night, only for Nabil Fekir to equalise directly from a corner not long after.
In the celebrations, a Real Betis supporter threw a flag pole which struck Joan Jordán and this ultimately resulted in the game being abandoned.
The following day, they reconvened in an empty stadium with Betis winning 2-1, Sergio Canales the scorer, despite Sevilla arguing their opponents should’ve been thrown out.
Alongside, the other reason this particular derby match will be extra special is because these two currently sit second and third in the table.
Sevilla are five points above their city rivals and are unbeaten in 11 league games, but could only draw 1-1 at Espanyol last Sunday.
This result saw leaders Real Madrid open up a six point gap at the top over Julen Lopetegui’s team.
Meanwhile, Manuel Pellegrini’s men beat Mallorca 2-1 last weekend with Álex Moreno and then Willian José on target.
Los Verdiblancos have now won eight of their last 12 La Liga matches so are in a good position to qualify for the Champions League after 17 years away.
Both clubs were in UEFA Europa League action on Thursday night with both reaching the round of 16.
Béticos held Zenit Saint Petersburg to a goalless draw and, having won 3-2 in Russia, advanced and will now face Eintracht Frankfurt next.
Sevilla meanwhile actually lost 1-0 in Zagreb to GNK Dinamo but also went through 3-2 on aggregate; they’ll meet West Ham next month.
Now, who will claim Andalucían bragging rights and three points at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán?

Anthony Martial scored his first Sevilla goal against GNK Dinamo ten days ago but then suffered an injury so will miss this one.
Julen Lopetegui is also without wingers Suso and Érik Lamela but Tecatito Corona, who arrived from Porto last month, will keep his place.
Jesús Navas, who was only on the bench in Croatia, could return at right-back at the expense of Gonzalo Montiel.
In attack, Lopetegui has a big decision to make but could stick with Rafa Mir, over Moroccan Youssef En-Nesyri.

As for the visitors, Youssouf Sabaly and William Carvalho are likely to come into the XI from midweek with the former taking Héctor Bellerín’s place.
In midfield though, it’ll be interesting to see if Carvalho does come in, will he displace Guido Rodríguez or Andrés Guardado.
Further forward, 40 year old Joaquín has scored just two goals in 40 career appearances against Sevilla, netting against them in 2002 and 2018.
If he’s to improve those number, it’s likely going to be from the bench.
In attack, Willian José might continue to lead the line with Borja Iglesias only in reserve.
