When the fixtures were announced on 16 June, many would’ve pointed towards this as a key game in the title run-in.
However, only one of these two clubs have managed to live up to their own lofty ambitions, but this fixture remains a red-letter day in the diary.
Manchester City are very much in the title race, although the Sky Blues kick off eight points below Arsenal, admittedly with a game in hand.

With the gap at the top as large as it is, Man City probably need to win at least eight of their 11 remaining games, with this certainly one of the toughest.
The Reds’ last two league results almost perfectly encapsulate their season, smashing Manchester United 7-0 before losing 1-0 at Bournemouth just six days later.
Jürgen Klopp’s team had seemingly rediscovered their mojo, accumulating 13 points from a possible 15, before that lifeless and lacklustre defeat at Dean Court.
After this, Liverpool face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, before welcoming Arsenal to Anfield on Easter Sunday.
With the Reds currently five points adrift fourth-placed Tottenham, this week will be key as they seek to make a late charge into the top four.
Liverpool are winless in five visits to the Etihad, beaten 3-2 there in the Carabao Cup just before Christmas.

Meanwhile, Erling Braut Håland is a major doubt, having not featured in either of Norway’s games this week.
Given that Håland has scored 42 goals this season, including eight in his last three games, this would be a serious blow.
Håland has become the first player to score a hat-trick in England’s top-flight, the FA Cup and the European Cup all in the same season since Liverpool’s John Wark in 1984/85.
Without either, Julián Álvarez is likely to lead the line, with Bernardo Silva returning on the right-wing.

Darwin Núñez scored on his debut against Man City in the Community Shield and, despite returning from international duty earlier, is expected to be fit.
Liverpool’s last league win at the Etihad came in November 2015, a famous 4-1 success, with James Milner and Roberto Firmino the only players still at the club from that day.
As for Luis Díaz, he’s set to be on the bench, hoping to feature for the first time since hobbling off against Arsenal in mid-October.
