This harrowing loss means Diego Simeone’s side have now only won three of their last ten La Liga fixtures, including Saturday’s dramatic 4-3 win over Getafe.

So, they remain fifth in the table, needing to get back on track to keep pace with Barcelona in the Champions League race.

Osasuna though will not be easy opponents, not by any stretch of the imagination.

Los Rojillos easily beat Rayo Vallecano 3-0 a week ago with Jon Moncayola, Rubén García and Kike all scoring at Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas.

This means they’ve now taken ten points from the last 15 available so sit up in ninth.

Given their tally of 32 points, Jagoba Arrasate’s team a essentially safe so are playing like a side free from the burden of relegation worries.

For the hosts, defenders Aridane Hernández and Jesús Areso are long-term absentees.

Wednesday was a truly miserable night, compounded by the fact Rodrigo de Paul was booked so he’s suspended for this one.

As is Felipe, who was sent off for a horrendous tackle last weekend.

Daniel Wass, who was bought to replace Kieran Trippier, then got injured on his debut at Camp Nou.

So Marcos Llorente, a midfielder, will continue to fill-in with Šime Vrsaljko not trusted.

Further forward, Antoine Griezmann and Yannick Carrasco are injured.

João Félix and Luis Suárez were on the bench on Wednesday but both could return for this one.
