They’ll await the draw on 24 July, but their opponents will be one of Sturm Graz, TSC, Dnipro, Servette, Panathinaikos or Belgium’s runners-up, who are to be determined.
Given that Braga struggle to smash through the glass celling and finish third or higher, they haven’t featured in the Champions League since 2012, but are just two wins away from a lucrative group phase return.
This is a real statement of intent for Os Arsenalistas, as lifting major silverware at the expense of the established elite would be.
During the league season, Porto smashed Braga 4-1 at Estádio do Dragão in September before a goalless draw at A Pedreira in March, with this the most-recent time Conceição’s side failed to take all three points.
This is the fourth Taça de Portugal Final between these two, with Porto victorious in 1977 and 1998, although it was Braga who prevailed on penalties in Oeiras seven years ago.
