An interesting piece of footage has leaked online this evening, portraying Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos tearing into teammate Luka Modric for an act of fair play during Los Blancos’ La Liga matchup with Deportivo La Coruna at the weekend.
A relatively routine 3-0 win for Zinedine Zidane’s men was marred by a late red card for Sergio Ramos, with the stopper having been been adjudged to have purposely led with his elbow during a challenge with Borja Valle with just minutes remaining in the matchup.
The notoriously ill-disciplined Spanish international was handed his second yellow card, though the decision looked harsh on the face of it.
However, while Ramos may consider himself as having been hard done-by for his second booking, the 31-year-old was actually lucky not to have been sent off earlier in proceedings, after he blatantly raised his hand into the face of Deportivo defender Fabian Schar.
The melee which eventually led to Ramos pushing Schar was all instigated by the Real stopper, who refused to put the ball out of play when Zakaria Bakkali went down with an injury.
Ramos has since made it clear that his actions were due to the fact that the home side had also refused to put the ball into touch when Dani Carvajal went down with a problem of his own.
However, an interesting piece of footage has come to the fore this evening, proving that not only did Ramos openly encourage his teammates to play on when Bakkali had gone to ground, but that he also ignored manager Zinedine Zidane in the buildup, and slated teammate Luka Modric for his act of sportsmanship in eventually putting the ball out of play.
