The supporters of Tottenham Hotspur tonight stayed behind after the final whistle of their clash with Real Madrid to continue chanting and celebrating in brilliant fashion.

Matchup

The two sides headed into proceedings locked on 6 points atop the Group H table, with Real understandably labelled as heavy favourites to earn a victory and take control of the table.

However, rather surprisingly, it was Spurs who took the lead after 28 minutes, as Harry Kane’s deflected effort came off Raphael Varane to leave Keylor Navas helpless in the Real goal.

It didn’t take long for the Champions League holders to get themselves back on level terms, though, with Cristiano Ronaldo notching his 110th goal in Europe’s elite club competition after Serge Aurier fouled Toni Kroos in the box.

Difference makers

The second half also produced a number of excellent chances for both sides, though Zinedine Zidane’s Blancos had the better of it.

Yet, while the world-class talents of the likes of Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo were once again expected to take centre stage in proving decisive, it was in fact one of each side’s less-heralded stars who took the plaudits.

First off, Hugo Lloris looked near-unbeatable in the Tottenham goal throughout the second 45 minutes, with stunning reaction saves from the likes of Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo having kept Mauricio Pochttino’s side alive.

However, Keylor Navas was not to be outdone at the other end, producing a pair of sensational saves of his own from two Harry Kane efforts.

In fine voice

The scoreline ended at one apiece, with the travelling Spurs contingent over the moon with the brilliant result earned by their side.

A huge section of supporters actually remained long after the final whistle had been blown, with much of the celebration caught on camera:
