FA Cup favourites
Kurt Zouma is pumped for Chelsea’s FA Cup tie with Manchester United on Monday night and couldn’t hide that excitement in an interview ahead of the clash of the round. Speaking about his former manager Jose Mourinho, Zouma called him the man. “When he speaks, everyone listens,” the French defender says.
But he’s also enjoying life under Antonio Conte.
The Blues are running away with the Premier League title and are the favourites for FA Cup glory too.
Zouma has started every game in their current FA Cup campaign and is relieved about the fact that United are without Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The big Swede will serve the first of his three-game ban for elbowing Tyrone Mings.
Connection with Van Damme
The most interesting part of the video has nothing to do with the upcoming clash. It focused on the origins of Kurt Happy Zouma’s name: “My parents were watching a film and it starred Jean-Claude Van Damme, the actor.
“He was killing everyone in the movie and at the end of the movie, they saw that his name was Kurt. They said, okay we’ll call this kid Kurt and we’ll put Happy [as his middle name] because he will always be happy.”
That’s a pretty bizarre way to name your kids. It makes for a good story, though.
