Juan Mata strengthens his image as football’s nicest man in a new interview with Gary Lineker for Match of the Day. The Spanish midfielder gave Lineker a tour of an art museum while he discussed his career. It was a reminder of what an intelligent and unique footballer Mata is. He admires all forms of art, he tells the former Leicester striker.
The conversation touched on every topic you would expect. The falling-out with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea that Mata insists wasn’t really a falling-out at all. What a character Zlatan Ibrahimovic and how Paul Pogba will justify his world record transfer in time. They spoke of the trophies Mata wants to win at Old Trafford, domestic and continental.
