With his eighth goal since joining Man United, Romelu Lukaku was the hero for the Red Devils on Saturday.

Lukaku scored a first half goal following from an Ashley Young cross.

The three points kept United level on points with Man City at the top of the table.

The Sky Blues, however, are four goals ahead of United on goal difference. That’s after City thrashed Crystal Palace 5-0.

Man United manager Jose Mourinho was sent to the stands by referee Craig Pawson in the 94th minute.

Only two weeks ago, of course, Mourinho was involved in controversy as he refused to shake the hand of Mark Hughes in United’s 2-2 draw with Stoke City.

So what happened at Southampton?

Some claimed Mourinho was dismissed for encroaching onto the pitch as he urged his players into position.

The Special One also clashed with the fourth official on the sidelines.

In his post match presser after the Southampton game, journalists peppered Mourinho with questions about his red card.

The Man United boss seemed dumbfounded about his dismissal.

Although he did admit having words with the fourth official on the touchline.

He also said Pawson never explained exactly why he was sent to the stands.
