From hero to zero

Signed by Sunderland for £9m in January, 25-year-old Wahbi Khazri was the hero on Friday after he scored the winner in Tunisia’s 1-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Libya.

However, the former Bordeaux winger was sent off in ridiculous circumstances during today’s 0-0 friendly draw against Mauritania.

Khazri’s stupidity gets the better of him

Wahbi Khazri got himself involved in a tussle with 19-year-old defender Moustapha Diaw in the 58th minute and had no other option but to send him off.

The Sunderland man probably could’ve gotten away with just a yellow card but threw a punch towards the youngster whilst the referee was running towards them.

Moustapha Diaw may (quite rightly) feel hard done by after he was also shown red by the referee. Watch the video below.

That’s not the temperament of a player who can lead his team out of a Premier League relegation battle.
