Arsenal lose at West Brom
Arsene Wenger was already under enormous pressure coming into Saturday’s game, and he needed a defeat at a place like West Brom like a hole in the head.
But that’s exactly what he got.
The Gunners limped to a 3-1 defeat at the Hawthorns and offered little in the way of fighting spirit, completely unable to muster a comeback against the mighty West Brom.
Alexis Sanchez, as ever, was one of the few Arsenal players who showed heart and fight, and it was the Chilean who scored their only goal of the game.
But once he was subbed off for Alex Iwobi, it was pretty clear and obvious that Arsenal had zero chance of mounting a comeback.
‘Nacer Chadli, Spurs reject’
But as bad as Arsenal were, the Baggies deserve huge credit for their performance.
One of their key men on the day was ex-Spurs man Nacer Chadli, whose pinpoint corners provided the assists for Dawson’s goals.
And it will have been especially sweet for the Belgian, given that Arsenal fans were trolling him for being a ‘Spurs reject’ throughout.
