Footage has been going viral this evening of Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri smiling and looking absolutely care-free during his side’s rout at the hands of Arsenal earlier today.
The two sides went head to head in Premier League clash at Goodison Park today, with both coming into proceedings on the back of disappointing showings last weekend.
Everton were held to a draw by newly promoted Brighton, whilst Arsenal fell to a 2-1 defeat at Vicarage Road versus high-flying Watford.
However, the Gunners were on significantly better form overall, with their result at Watford their first loss in 9 across all competitions.
The Toffees, on the other hand, had managed just 2 wins from their 12 fixtures across all competitions this season, despite investing heavily in their squad over the summer.
As a result, it came as a surprise when the home side took the lead this afternoon, courtesy of a wonderful strike from Wayne Rooney.
However, it did not take long for the game to begin following its predicted pattern, as Arsene Wenger’s men took complete control for the remainder of the first-half.
Nacho Monreal eventually provided the Londoners with the equaliser they deserved just before the interval, before a second-half onslaught saw all of Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette, Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez find the net.
Everton, meanwhile grabbed a slight consolation in injury time through Oumar Niasse (though his strike actually came before that of Alexis Sanchez), but the performance of the Merseysiders once again left a lot to be desired, with Ronald Koeman looking ever-closer to the exit door at Goodison.
Whilst fans of the home side looked utterly devastated at yet another disappointing day out, one man who, rather surprisingly, looked less than worried, was Everton owner Farhad Moshiri.
In the immediate aftermath of Alexis Sanchez putting the gloss on an embarrassing 5-2 scoreline for the Toffees, Moshiri was shown on the big screen at Goodison Park.
However, instead of hanging his head or even attempting to look disappointed by what he was witnessing, the Iranian billionaire instead elected to smile and wave for the camera, only adding to the frustration of Everton’s loyal fanbase.
Check out the footage below, which also features club chairman Bill Kenwright, who, to his credit, looks positively dumbfounded by proceedings on the pitch:
