Eskişehirspor all but relegated from Turkish Super Lig; Fans set fire to own stadium (Video)

Turkish fans riot relegation

Eskişehirspor fans set fire to their own stadium

Fans of Turkish club Eskişehirspor rioted after their final home game of the season, following a 2-1 defeat at the hands of İstanbul Başakşehir.

The defeat leaves them three points from safety ahead of Wednesday’s final day of the season, albeit still able to survive if they secure a win and 15th placed Gaziantepspor lose.

The scenes at the full time whistle were rather ugly, with the home fans Eskişehirspor invading the pitch and setting off fires all over the stadium.

A video taken from the centre of the stadium (below) shows the terrible scenes which took place in the 18,000 capacity Atatürk Stadyumu. Video via 32.gun.

The fans will be left with egg on their face if they manage to stay up on Wednesday night.

Rising Violence in Turkish Football

Turkish football has been marred by violence and awful fan behaviour in recent times.

In the past few weeks a Trabzonspor fan evaded security and beat the s*** out of an official during a defeat to Fenerbahce and only a week later a Karabukspor fan attacked the referee before a player landed a vicious flying kick on the fan.

The Turkish FA need to act over the summer in order to stop this sudden rise in hooliganism.
