Man United win again
Manchester United scored another pre-season victory on Thursday night in America, and it was a biggy.
The Red Devils beat noisy neighbours Man City 2-0 in the International Champions Cup.
75 million pound summer signing Romelu Lukaku broke the deadlock in the 37th minute with a fine goal from an acute angle, while Marcus Rashford doubled the lead two minutes later.
Jose Mourinho on recruitment
After the game, the Special One was asked about Man United’s summer recruitment strategy.
Aside from landing Lukaku, Victor Lindelof has arrived from Benfica, however Mourinho has so far failed to land a centre-mid, while a deal for Ivan Perisic continues to stall.
A third signing
At the same time as United hit problems in the transfer market, some of their rivals have been unveiling their new talent.
In the last week, for example, Man City have shelled out almost 100 million pounds on two right-backs: Tottenham’s Kyle Walker and Real Madrid’s Danilo.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have followed up the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco by adding Alavro Morata from Madrid.
As their rivals boost their ranks, Jose Mourinho has made it crystal clear he expected United to bring in more players before the start of the season.
Jose on getting a third new signing: "I understand the problem. But we need a bit more. You see other teams get important players."
