Maradona meets Kane
You know you’re doing your job as an attacker when you have Diego Maradona singing your praises.
The Argentine legend was clearly delighted to meet Harry Kane before the Spurs forward scored two in a 4-1 win over Liverpool. Maradona was in attendance at Wembley, cheering on Kane and left even more impressed.

Brought to the stadium by his former national team colleague Ossie Ardiles, Maradona was taken to the dressing room to chat with fellow compatriot Mauricio Pochettino. Kane and Hugo Lloris swung by to say hello.

It was a slightly awkward meeting with Kane greeting Maradona in English, only to find that the World Cup winner doesn’t speak a word of the language. Tottenham hero Ardiles acted as the translator.
Maradona held Kane as he offered him a piece of advice.
Passing on tips
With 13 goals in 12 games this season, Kane doesn’t exactly need advice on how to find the back of the net.
But that wasn’t about to stop Maradona from telling Kane where he felt he could improve. Reasoning that goalkeepers would be watching his shooting habits on TV, Maradona told Kane to avoid constantly going for the near post.
He suggested that Kane should try to shoot across goal more often. Does this advice have any basis? Or was Maradona simply giving vague advice in the hope that it applied to Kane? It’s hard to tell.
Advice from a giant of the game like Maradona shouldn’t be brushed off. However, Kane should keep doing what he’s doing and won’t necessarily pay too much mind to the former Napoli great.
