Danny Welbeck takes to Twitter to explain late ommission from Arsenal line-up v Bayern

Late omission

There was a late change to the Arsenal team sheet before kick off in their 2nd leg clash against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

Arsenal fans have been begging for Wenger to start Welbeck for weeks. The fans finally got their wish on the weekend and the ex United forward responded by scoring in the Gunners’ 3-1 defeat at Anfield.

Welbeck was due to start again on Tuesday night, being named in the starting line-up. But moments before kick-off, news broke that Welbeck was replaced in the line-up by Olivier Giroud.

Not injured

Given his injury history, Gunners fans feared the worst and rival fans took the micky.

But Welbeck isn’t injured. He’s just ill. Or so he claims.

Ozil has missed numerous matches this season through illness, though reports of a back problem have done the rounds.

Could there be a bug going around the Emirates?
