Who is the Dirtier Cheat? El-Hadji Diouf or Morten Gamst Pederson (Arsenal v Blackburn)

What is Big Sam teaching during Rovers training sessions?

Blackburn took a pounding at Arsenal on Saturday, with their performance worsened by two horrible incidents of cheating involving firstly El-Hadji Diouf and then Morten Gamst Pederson.

Bad-boy Diouf should have been sent off for a nasty tackle on Manuel Almunia. Chasing down a lost cause, Diouf found himself outnumbered in trying to retrieve a long ball forward with both Kolo Toure and Almunia quickly on the scene for the Gunners. Almunia won the foot-race, pumping the ball out of play to clear the danger, only to then be mowed down by ankle-breaking challenge from Rovers number 18.

Always second best, Diouf ignored all common-sense before lunging disgracefully into the Spanish keeper with his right leg, studs first, flying into the custodian’s ankle in a filthy and late foul.

Diouf’s x-rated tackle on Almunia can be seen here.

But that was only the first half of a terrible double-bill for Blackburn. Moments later Morten Gamst Pederson put in an Oscar winning dive as he tried to con the referee into awarding a blatantly non-existent penalty for a foul against Bacary Sagna.

With the winger racing into the box ahead of the Arsenal full-back, Pederson slyly twisted his head backwards to gauge the proximity of his covering defender before taking a Platoon-esque tumble in the box in one of the worst fake fouls seen this year. Pederson was also fortunate not to be sent off for simulation.

Morten Gamst Pederson’s unbelievably bad dive can be seen here.

So which was worse? You decide.

Whinging Southerners again….even when they win they whinge and moan! Why are they even bothered about a little team like us Rovers? Its probably because the Arse have slipped down the table and are way behind (in so many ways - including class)the top teams (Liverpool, Chelsea and MUFC) and are in danger of slipping lower now as even both Villa and Everton are better than them!
Mid table for you gooners i am afraid next season! So us horrible Northerners will be back to bash you again and actuallt tackle you (part of the game BTW) - so get your pathetic whinges ready now!

  2. Sughosh Says:

How does one respond sanely to Mr. French Rover?

  3. Julian H Says:

The comment from “French Rover” is so moronic I barely know where to start; but I will try.

    1) People are “moaning” because violent assaults like Diouf’s are unacceptable, irrespective of the result of the game they occur in. This is not about club bias. In spite of being an Arsenal supporter I was equally outraged by Kevin Nolan’s “challenge” on Anichebe the other week. It’s absurd that certain players are allowed to endanger other players’ careers, yet face little more than a yellow card when they do this.

    2) This also has nothing to do with stopping “tackles”, most of which are legitimate and not excessively dangerous. We all want a game where strong but fair tackles are allowed, and this is in no way thwarted by penalising cowardly assault, as recently practiced by Diouf and Nolan.

    3) Arsenal are above both Everton and Villa in the league, while in the quarter finals of the FA Cup and European Cup. On what basis, therefore, are they better than us? If you genuinely think the Arsenal will finish mid-table next season then I suggest you make your way to Betfair, where hundreds of people are waiting to take your money off you.

To answer the post’s question: Diouf’s offence is worse. Dives like Pederson’s are embarrassing, but at least they cannot potentially end an innocent player’s career.

  4. pooner Says:

Fat Sam is the worst of the two. Only someone like him could try and justify how Diouf’s challenge “wasn’t that bad” after the game. Good luck in the championship next year you scum.

oh and don’t bring the whole north/south thing into it, French Rover, you tosspot… you have no idea what you are talking about.

  5. Gunner Pete Says:

it shows the mentality of the idiots who support championship teams like blackburn, which is where you’ll be next year. it also shows the gulf in class between a team like Arsenal and blackburn, when there players resort to diving and bad tackles as a result of frustration born from being given a lesson in how to play football, but what do you expect from the players when they have mornons like french rover supporting them.

  6. Socrates Says:

Unfortunately there’s plenty of morons supporting Arsenal too. The internet merely gives them a place to air their balls…and boy do they stink.

  7. Socrates Says:

PS. By the way that wasn’t addressed at the above posters (with the exception of French Rover)

  8. Old Git Says:

Blackburn should be handed a ten point deduction, Diouff should be banned from the game for life and Pederson should be made to play a bit part in Neighbours for a season, with suspended pay. Fat Sam should be forced to eat his own balls with a knife and fork. And to answer the question they are both as bad as each other. Acts such as Diouff’s end careers and acts such as Pederson’s ruin the game. Blackburn Rovers are the ‘ASBO neighbours from hell’ of the Premier League. I hope they get relegated and never come back.

  9. GOONER4EVER Says:

French Rover……You like your team’s approach because you have no idea how Football is played to say the least.
2 Your manager is absolutely unable to cope with the artistry of Mr Wenger the Great Maestro, and so he advice his players not to let Arsenal play, because he cannot and have no idea whatsover how to match them.
As who was the dirtier,I have no doubt that the first position is to be given to the Savage Diouf with second Big Fat Sam,and both should be banned from Footbal
That unsporting Gamst should be given a Five match ban
For the information of the idiot Arsenal beat Man Utd,and Chelsea away and drew with Liverpool.
Besides Arsenal are forth in the Premier,Quarter Final in the Champion’s League and in round six of FA Cup
    Where are the Rooooooooooooovvvvvvvveeeerrrrs?

  10. Mulldoins Says:

It looks like Arsenal & Blackburn will win the same this year
Nothing. Diouf obviosly models himself on Viera. Incidently I have never read such crass comments as made by “Old Git” He is devoid, foul And obviously too thick to trap his empty ( I bet shaven) head in a door

  11. Brownie Says:

And what about Almunia’s headbutt ? You soft southern pansies ! At least Diouf didnt go down.
Rsenal were once a great English team with Seaman Dixon Keown Adams Winterburn

  12. Tim Says:

Both incidents were shocking but i would say Dioufs is worse cos he could have broken Almunias ankle… and French Rover wtf r u talking about??

  13. j Says:

ha, i would say these posts indicate that idiots are following both of these teams (french rover and old git) and probably are following every team regardless of geography and league. at arsenal we (a fan here) have divers like eboue, although i can’t recall one that bad, and surely at some point somone on our team will injure someone. Players are always going to dive and make bad tackles, the problem is that they are supposed to be punished. If diouf gets a three match ban and pedersen gets something maybe they will think twice about it next time, or their coaches will consider it in selection.

  14. Old Git Says:

Is Pedersen telling Fat Sam he’s a tosser in that photo?

  15. French Rover Says:

We won the premiership - super Blues - have u arse boys? NO No No….ha-ha!

  16. Jermain Nee Says:

Why do all you goonies make it sounds like they cheat because they’re rovers’players or like because they’re not arsenal players… Have you forgotten van persie’s antics, always whining about something. Pedersen is a cheat but that wouldn’t have changed if he was a arsenal player… a player does what he has to do to win a f*****g game.

  17. pooner Says:

Yeah and lunging in on the goal keeper after the ball has gone helps you win the fucking game how? Jermain Nee, you nescient little imbecile… also how does complaining about one dreadful challenge even imply that us Gooners are incapable of criticising our own players? If a player for our team delivered a tackle like that I would be ashamed of them and want the same punishment as anyone else.

Please try and deploy your critical faculties before your start spewing your irrational, hate-filled, prejudiced ideas. But then again I suppose being an irrational moron is part and parcel of being a football supporter, whether from the north or south.

  18. Jermain Nee Says:

preconceived ideas, huh? u’re very objective u too…

  19. Edd Says:

    “# French Rover Says:

We won the premiership - super Blues - have u arse boys? NO No No….ha-ha!”

yes more times than you hahaha

    what a moron.

  20. Jermain Nee Says:

Yeah I agree with Edd, french rover. I don’t like goonies as well but french rova try to say sometin’ f*****g more sensible… and pooner am sure wenger would have condemned his players if they nearly broke an opposite player’s leg… he wouldn’t have done shit… he ‘d say the other play dived because everyone is against his team, innit…

  21. Jermain Nee Says:

Gooners such cry babies, incredible. Go goonass. What would have done in this match without arshavin? not much, obviously. Anyway, he’s not going to stay much longer. All your good playas realize soon that they’re in an average club and they all leave for bigger clubs(just look at hleb, henry, cole, vieira…and for fabregas, it’s a matter of time).

  22. Socrates Says:

    Alas …quod erat demonstrandum

  23. Socrates Says:

“What would Arsenal have done in this match without Arshavin?”

Maybe that’s why they bought him

  24. Darren Says:

Actually Wenger sold henry and viera. As for cole, he hasnt been near as good since he left, and Hleb spends his time on the bench all year. Very few players have left Arsenal and have gone on to have a better careers elsewhere. So nice attempt Jermain Nee. As for the worse foul, I would say Diouf’s because he could have serious hurt Almunia. Pedersen is a cheat, but a pathetic one. Not to say Arsenal doesn’t have cheats (see Eboue) and I can remember last year against Bolton where Diaby had a shocking 2footed slide tackle that he rightfully saw a straight red for. Its ugly and should be punished more severely than they are right now.

  25. g Says:

mr. jermaine nee you are a twat

  26. Jermain Nee Says:

he sold them, wenger did that, huh? If he really wanted to sell them he would have at least asked for double their price. You don’t sell yuh best playas for 13 and 20 millions. Nowadays you only could buy robbie savage for that money. He wanted to keep them but they needed sometin’ new and better.

The only intelligent thing he did was not to let them go freely cuz they didn’t have much time left on their contracts.

  27. Modé Rate Says:

Diouf is hotheaded, rash player but i think he was carried away by his own tackle. NEVERTHERLESS, he should have at least apologised to the blondie.
