Eduardo da Silva’s long rehabilitation took another major step forward last night, as the Croatian striker completed a full 90 minutes for Arsenal’s reserves at Stoke.
While Eduardo looked sharp and a threat up-front - unfortunate to see a late goal chalked off for offside - the man of the match for the Gunners was young Jack Wilshere who bagged both goals in the 2-all draw.
Ashley Page’s header handed the Potters a 19th-minute lead, but a superb bending effort hit by the 17-year-old Wilshere, with the outside of his boot, levelled things up five minutes later. Tom Thorley restored Stoke’s lead before Arsenal’s display was spoiled by captain Mark Randall’s dismissal, with reports accusing the young Gunner of spitting at Ryan Connor. The North Londoners rallied, Wilshere bagging his brace to end the game honours-even.
Ashley Page’s first goal can be seen here, while limited highlights including Wilshere’s first goal and Eduardo’s offside goal can be seen here.

Jack Wilshere, not Luke Wilshere :p Pity Eduardo’s goal was ruled out, but Wilshere’s first was a stunner! Hope to see both of them playing regularly in te first team by the end of the season!

Eduardo’s ‘goal’ wasn’t chalked off because it never was a goal. It was obviously offside and the flag was up before he shot for goal.
No mention of spitting was made after the match and Niel Banfield seemed to think he had been sent off for taking out the man. Post match commentary never picked up on any spitting incident so I hope this is not true.
Good old ‘Luke’ Wilshere, eh!

As a Tottenham fan, i have to express my delight to see Eduardo back playing after what was a unfortunate injury. He has potential to be a great player for the Gunners and i wish him all the best.
Jack Wiltshire used to play with my nephew and was a stunning footballer even as a child! great things expected of that boy. I think a transfer over to White Heart Lane would do him loads of good!! haha

Afraid to say but he did spit but after he was sent off. A Stoke player said something to him and he carried on off the pitch he spat back at him. Didn’t look like it made contact but he did do it

Sorry ‘wondrinfree’, but that’s not offside, it’s level at worst. Should have stood.
