Video evidence: Zoran Tosic & Adem Ljajic (Manchester United)

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Back on the 26th of September, we published an article highlighting Partizan Belgrade’s up-and-coming playmaker dubbed “little Kaka”, 16-year-old Adem Ljajic, while also name-dropping his fellow midfielder Zoran Tosic (pictured). Two months later, and today both players have been linked with a move to Manchester United in articles in the Daily Mail and Mirror.

Recapping on some of the observations made several months back, Ljajic is an excellent technician and can play in almost all attacking positions in the team. The youngster is unquestionably one of the best talents to have emerged from Serbia in recent years, having all the qualities required of a complete, creative right winger or central attacking midfielder.

Video evidence of Adem Ljajic in action can be seen here and here.

Yet Ljajic’s progression at Partizan has arguably been stunted due to the numerous attacking qualities present throughout the rest of the squad. And of particular note in this regard is 21-year-old left winger Zoran Tosic, who is in the form of his life this season.

Nicknamed “Bambi” because of his slight physically build, Tosic has hit the back of the net eight times already this term, being the same amount of goals as he registered all of last campaign. Several of his goals have arrived from set-plays, Tosic becoming a specialist at dead-balls. But his game is far richer than just being able to deliver a quality free-kick, as Tosic is also capable of beating his man and whipping in clinical crosses with his sweet leg peg.

Video evidence of Zoran Tosic in action can be seen here.

And for a final treat, this video compiles the best skills and goals from both rising stars, who could well be on the books at Old Trafford come the new year.

Don’t think I saw Ljajic touch the ball with his left all video. How can a player being trained at one of a country’s top clubs not be tought to use both feet?

    He will go nowhere.

  2. Tom Says:

Whilst it is annoying when footballers can’t use both feet it is pathetic that you’ve judged a player purely on that.

I wonder if anyone said in 1991, have you seen this Ryan Giggs? Yeh, I have he only uses his left foot though he will go nowhere.

    You’re a clown.

  3. edin Says:

I do not think these guys are signings worthy squirt of man u.I live in Serbia and watch them every weekend.you can not compare premier league and serbian league.the are ot good enough believe me!

  4. Agym Says:

These guys are still young. They have long way to go.No doubt they have the talent and Man United has the capability to developed young lads to become one of world best player but it’s still depending on how they manage to fit in with the new environment and English football.(even an experience player like Andriy Shevchenko stumbled)Having both of them in the squad should add depth in the variety of manager’s selection of his first 11. I wish them all the best hopefully they can turn out to be a real Man United player.

  7. Johann Lim (KL) Says:

Because of stiff competition clubs have to gamble, and gamble very young these days in order to grab emerging talent with good value. This makes it extremely difficult to get a top talent who is already established, unless they are very young and are merely showing promise, or else pay through the nose.

To Edin: Just two names will do - Vidic and Vucinic.

To Andrew: I think in every top league you’ll be hard-pressed to find 5 top rate players who are supremely two-footed. And when they are, it’s not like they are equal in strengths when it comes to both feet, just that the inequalities are less. All players still have a “preferred” foot, and that’s a good thing, not a bad thing.
