Mexico 4 - Venezuela 0 (International friendly, June 24, 2009) El Tri coach Javier Aguirre tried out a number of players ahead of some crucial World Cup qualifiers in August and it was Spurs forward Giovani Dos Santos who came to the fore with a terrific performance. He set up Arsenal forward Carlos Vela to bundle home the opener and then took center stage at the start of the second half. Dos Santos cut in and finished with his left foot on 48 minutes and three minutes later a surging run ended with the ball ricocheting off the Venezuela keeper and on to Dos Santos for his second. (Both Dos Santos goals can be seen on this video.) Omar Arellano completed the win in the 73rd minute.

If we let this guy go we will so regret it… Don’t know whether his attitude is the problem? Whats the point in paying big money for a left winger when we have a guy at his age running the show at international level? You don’t do that unless you have a huge gift to offer!!! DID YOU SEE “SCORED WITH LEFT FOOT’!!!! He has pace, dribbling, shooting, passing. This guy is going to be top notch - just hope arry can see it!!!! Or at least tell us why he can’t - SPECSAVERS HARRY?? You watch this geazer will be attracting 20m+ in a few years… Dont forget he chose us over some CL temas - we whinge all the time about players not coming to the lane who want CL football - ask yourselves why after the way the club has treated him!!! Must deserve a chance in first team squad…

I watched him in the pre-season games and looked forward to a star bursting onto the scene. Then … nothing. I can’t criticise Harry after what he did for us and, hopefully, what he’ll continue to do for us. But I’m sure Dos Santos will be big and I just cannot see why we would contemplate offloading him when he can score goals like this at international level.

I’m really disspointed with Arry on this one. I feel that all the kid needs is an arm around the shoulder & to feel a little bit of faith in him. He has the potential to be WORLD class. He has everything u would want from an attacking left sided mid fielder. This guy came in regularly for barcelona & joined us over a host of teams who could have offered him CL football to make a proper name for himself. Please Arry, keep him & give him a decent run in the side. We can them assess the situation in January. Don’t forget that he was injured for a big part of last season…

I agree with everyone here,i felt sorry for Gio last year when he got injured, he had a great pre-season and the injury really took him back and he didnt get his chanec due to the position we were in. I have never critiscised Harry as i think he is one bestmanagers in the premier league. I agree with Andrew on giving him a chnace and assesing him in January

‘In ‘arry we trust’ - I’m not too sure about that at the minute if he’s considering letting Gio go and then replacing him with that most non-prolific of goal scorers Downing. It makes you wonder don’t it….Jeez!!
