With a name that arouses images of a bastard child between the present Aston Villa strikeforce, perhaps this week’s top goal of the week came from Barnet’s Ashley Carew (pictured), who scored a free-kick from his own half in his side’s 3-1 opening day defeat at home to Chesterfield.
While Carew enjoyed more than his fair share of luck in getting himself off the mark this season, there is no mistaking the intention of these strikes which make up our goals of the week.
1. Darron Gibson (v Peterborough, Aug. 4, 2008)
2. Nerijus Radzius (v Rangers, Aug. 5, 2008)
3. Semih Senturk (v MTK Budapest, Aug. 6, 2008)
4. Luis Suarez (v Arsenal, Aug. 8, 2008)
5. Yoann Gourcuff (v Caen, Aug. 9, 2008)
6. Valeri Bojinov (v AC Milan, Aug. 9, 2008) (pictured)
7. Franca (v Urawa Red Diamonds, Aug. 9, 2008)
8. Fitz Hall (v Barnsley, Aug. 9, 2008) (0.30 secs on the video)
9. Bruno Alves (v Lazio, Aug. 10, 2008) (first goal on the video)
10. Leandro Augusto (v Toluca, Aug. 10, 2008)

Narrowly missing out on this week’s selection were goals from Yossi Benayoun, Weller Wilson Pereira, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Krzysztof Kukulski, Nordin Amrabat and Artur Wichniarek.

Nice goal for Valeri Bojinov at Man City. It’s always good to see an injured player come back strong.

Huntelaar could be one man who could help Arsenal\’s situation of lackluster. I mean, the guy showed against us what he is. It\’s about time Wenger faces the music and be realistic. We should at least get one more man before the season starts, or else I will be very GUTTED!!!
