One things appears certain. David Beckham’s reintroduction to MLS soccer will be a far cooler affair then when Goldenballs joined the LA Galaxy back in 2007.
The commotion over Becks’ return to the United States took a turn for the worst last week after fellow LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan slammed Beckham as stingy, selfish and a poor captain in book excerpts published in Sports Illustrated.
Now back Stateside after his loan spell at AC Milan, Beckham has has his opportunity to fire back against the criticism at a press conference with local journalists.
Wearing an LA Galaxy polo-shirt and looking slightly peeved, Becks was asked head-on whether the comments made by Donovan would now made it difficult to play alongside the American forward in the same team.
Beckham: “I’m personally very professional when I am on the field. I don’t care what people say about me off the field, once I’m on the field I’m professional and if there is a chance for him to score, I will be giving him the ball… Me and Landon will talk… but that will be a private conversation.”
Beckham’s first interview back as an LA Galaxy player can be seen here.

It’s about time that “Becks”- a marketing campaign who occasionally plays some soccer- heard something from somebody in MLS. He’s been treated far too deferentially thus far…

As a proud American, I am still of the belief that Landon Donovan needs to accomplish something — anything — in this game before taking on Beckham like that.
Certainly his superstardom rubs some people the wrong way, but as Dizzy Dean once said, “if you done it, it ain’t braggin.” Beckham certainly has. Donovan certainly has not.

“Becks is a load of rubbish
second rate player;”
And I presume Landon Donovan is better?
