Carlos Tevez scores belting Golazo for Juventus v Genoa [videos]

Even without the injured Paul Pogba, Juventus continued their march to the Scudetto.

Juventus beat Genoa 1-0 on Sunday thanks to a belting goal in the 25th minute of their Serie A match.

Tevez waltzed past a couple of Genoa defenders before slamming the ball into the top of the Genoa net for a classic Golazo.

The Old Lady held a 14-point lead over Roma, who are second in Serie A. And face Monaco in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Tevez would later on in the Genoa game, miss a penalty for Juventus…

If this is Tevez’s last season before a return to Boca Juniors, the Argentine striker is going out in some style!

Sinisa Mihajlovic tried to attack Sampdoria defender Vasco Regini after the Genoa draw [Video]

Something bizarre happened after Sampdoria drew 1-1 with Genoa on Tuesday night in Italy.

The derby, which was a postponed fixture after the original game was set back for a water-logged pitch, ended in a stalemate after Iago Falque’s opener for Genoa was cancelled out by Samp’s Eder in the 17th minute.

Towards the end of the game, Genoa had the chance to snatch all three points when Samp defender Vasco Regini gave away a dangerous late free-kick.

That opportunity was ultimately squandered by Genoa, however after the full time whistle blew, Sinisa Mihajlovic confronted his defender on the pitch about that incident.

Mihajlovic exploded at the end of the match, and the coach had to be restrained by his own players as he moved aggressively towards Regini.

Mihajlovic later explained his actions, telling reporters:

When a player has his back to goal, he mustn’t commit fouls like this. I was sorry that we could have lost a very hard-fought derby which both sides wanted to win.

Man United legend Nemanja Vidic scores for Inter v Genoa [video]

Nemanja Vidic’s time at Inter Milan has not been a huge success this season, since leaving Manchester United.

The Serbian defender struggled in the opening months of the season and more recently was dropped under new boss Roberto Mancini.

On Sunday, the Manchester United legend was returned to the Inter Milan starting XI and duly grabbed the third goal in a 3-1 win over Genoa.

Perhaps the ball fell onto Vidic’s head somewhat, but this could well be a turning point for the former Manchester United crowd favourite.

Zlatan-esque! Empoli’s Levan Mchedlidze scores a crazy standing scorpion kick v Genoa [Vine]

Oh. My. Days!

A crazy goal was scored in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night in the match between Empoli and Genoa.

Empoli took the lead through Diego Laxalt after just five minutes, and in the 73rd minute Levan Mchedlidze doubled the advantage with an exquisite strike.

In a move which the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic usually only seem capable of scoring, Mchedlidze met an inswinging left-left winner with an athletic standing scorpion kick, and his effort zoomed into the back of the Genoa net.

Outstanding!

The home side have not lost since September and are undefeated in six games, so are heavy favourites to win this one.

Palermo are 14th with 13 points from 11 games so far this season and are six behind Genoa.

Their recent form has been decent, picking up three wins from their past five matches.

Wonderful! Diego Farias (Cagliari) knocks the ball around Genoa goalkeeper before slotting into empty net [Video & Vine]

What a wonderful goal this is!

Cagliari forward Diego Farias opened his account for the club in style when he put them 1-0 ahead in their game against Genoa today.

The striker was put through on goal by Luca Rossettini and, when faced by the onrushing Genoa goalkeeper, he opted to knock the ball around Mattia Perin before slotting into an empty net.

Offside? Genoa’s Luca Antonini scores controversial late winner v Juventus [GIF & Video]

Champions and league leaders Juventus suffered a surprise 0-1 defeat at Genoa tonight, traditionally a very happy hunting ground for the Old Lady.

Genoa scored a controversial late winner through Luca Antonini, who looked to be marginally offside as the ball was squared to him.

Antonini was definitely offside as the first ball came in, but under the new interpretation that wouldn’t be deemed offside, as it was the first phase of two.

Juve losing to a controversial goal – for once, the shoe is on the other foot!

Juventus emerged from some patchy form with a 2-0 win over Palermo on Sunday.

Arturo Vidal and Fernando Llorente bagged the goals against Palermo and The Old Lady moved on from a surprising draw with Sassuolo which was followed by defeat at Olympiakos in the Champions League.

Genoa beat Chievo away on Sunday and sit ninth in Serie A having bagged 12 points from eight games.

They have lost just once in seven games and could well be a tough nut to crack for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.

Genoa’s Daniele Portanova gets a colourful set of stick men tattoos marking all the teams he’s played for

What is it with Italians are madcap tattoos?

Over the past few years we’ve seen a handful of Calcio star unveil tattoos that are a little more creative than the usual garbage most people ink on their bodies.

Daniele De Rossi famously has a tattoo on his leg showing his tough-tackling tendencies, while Alberto Gilardino put a Peppa Pig tattoo on his bicep.

Now Genoa’s Daniele Portanova has unveiled his latest creation across his midriff, in which the 35-year-old defender has also incorporated a colourful and child-like design into his artwork.

Using lovable stick men figures, Portanova has six tattoos recalling all six clubs the player has featured for during his career. Those clubs are Fermana, Messina, Napoli, Bologna, Genoa, Siena.

Eurosport have also noted that “what is not entirely clear is why one of the caricatures is of a woman with a crown on her head or why one of the men is wearing a cap while playing football—but hey, a touch of creative license is surely to be allowed.”

See Daniele Portanova’s tattoo above, while Daniele De Rossi and Alberto Gilardino’s tattoos can be enjoyed below.
