Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce S.K. was founded on 3 May 1907 in Istanbul, Turkey. The club is one of the most successful in Turkey and has never been relegated from the top division.

 

The club’s home kit features the club’s colours with a black and yellow striped shirt with white shorts.

 

Fenerbahce play their football at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, which opened in 1908. The stadium has a capacity of 50,509 and is known for its intimidating atmosphere when full.

 

The club has a strong rivalry with the other two sides who make up the “Big Three” in Turkey, Galatasaray and Besiktas. The rivalry between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray is the biggest in the country and the Istanbul derby match between the two sides is known as the Intercontinental Derby.

 

Fenerbahce have won the Turkish Super Lig on 19 occasions, most recently in the 2013-14 season. The club has also won six Turkish Cups and nine Turkish Super Cups. In the 2007-08 season, Fenerbahce made it to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, their best ever finish.

 

The club’s all-time leading goalscorer is Zekiriza Sporel, who scored 470 goals for the club. Mujdat Yetkiner holds the record for most club appearances, with 763.

 

In 2015 the club signed Manchester United duo Robin van Persie and Luis Nani. Notable former players of the club include Diego Lugano, Alex, Nicolas Anelka, Roberto Carlos and Jay-Jay Okocha.

 

Notable former managers of the club include Zico, Luis Aragones, Joachim Low and Guus Hiddink.
