“I am disappointed to have an influence on a goal like that. It is probably the lowest point of my professional refereeing career. I am disappointed and it is not what you want to be a part of at all. It is difficult because the ball comes at you with pace and you think you are in the best position, but then something like that happens and they break away and sod’s law says they go and score from it. You want the world to swallow you up at that moment. I have spoken to the management of Birmingham and they have been outstanding having accepted it and shown no animosity at all.” - Howard Webb.
Referee Howard Webb has held up his hands and said sorry for his part in Wolves’ win at Birmingham on Tuesday night in the FA Cup, after the ref accidentally assisted a Wolves counter-attack after blocking Radhi Jaidi’s pass on the halfway line.
As the Birmingham centre-half was trying to find a teammate, Howard Webb managed to block Jaidi’s pass, with the ball subsequently diverted straight into the path of Wolves striker Andy Keogh. Keogh gratefully collected the ball, fed Michael Kightly who squared for Sam Vokes to wrap the game up from close range.

As a Birmingham City fan I am pleased that Howard Webb has admitted he helped the Wolves beat us. He admitted that he did not get our obvious penalty wrong as well. We needed that cup run not only to get revenue but to get the club into the media.

Howard, dun feel bad….it’s part and parcel being the 23 player in the field. It’s the defensive fault to pass the ball along your posn & path which eventually guided the ball to the offensive that leads to the goal. Dun take it too hard, atleast your The FA understand you unlike FIFA or AFC.
Cheers to the RESPECT CAMPAIGN.

Does Webb consider that he owes Chelsea an apology? Two of the worst decisions of the seasoon took place on Saturday - Man City v Chelsea. He was sso biased against Chelsea that I could hardly believe him. He then made matters worse by booking every Chelsea foul so that they would get the 6 cards necessary for a FA fine. He is a nasty vindictive piece of work. Do you think he takes a bung?
