About Alexis Sanchez
Alexis Sanchez is a Chilean international who currently plays for Arsenal. Renowned for his exceptional work-rate and desire, Sanchez can operate anywhere across the front three and has become one of the most dangerous attacking players in Europe.
Born in Tocopilla, Chile on 19 December 1988, Sanchez began his football career with local side Cobreloa. Sanchez was bought by Udinese in 2006 but was immediately loaned back to Chile to play for Colo-Colo, where he won the Chilean Primera Division. The following season Sanchez was loaned out again, this time to Argentinean side River Plate, where he won another league title. Sanchez finally made his debut for Udinese in the 2008-09 season where he featured prominently, making 32 League appearances. Having made a name for himself at Udinese, Sanchez caught the attention of Barcelona. The winger was sold to the Catalan club in July 2011 for a fee of €26 million.
Sanchez enjoyed three successful seasons at Barcelona, scoring 47 times in his 141 appearances for the club. Sanchez helped Barcelona win the La Liga title and Spanish Super Cup in his second season at the club, adding to the four trophies he had won previously with them.
In July 2014 Sanchez was bought by Premier League side Arsenal for a reported fee of £35 million. Sanchez’s first season for the gunners would turn out to be his best to date. Sanchez won the FA Cup with Arsenal that season, scoring an incredible goal in the final. Sanchez ended his debut season in England with an impressive 25 goals and was named in the PFA Team of the Year.
Sanchez’s year, however, would only get better as he would help guide hosts Chile to their first ever Copa America title. Sanchez scored the winning penalty in the final after the match against Argentina ended goalless. Sanchez’s Chile career began in 2006 and he is currently their second highest appearance-maker after goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
In September 2015, Sanchez scored a hat-trick against Leicester City. In do so, he became the first player to score a hat-trick in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A.
