USWNT’s Hope Solo does a Cristiano Ronaldo after crashing out of Rio Olympics

Bitter much, Hope?

USWNT out of the Olympics

The US Women’s National Team are out of the Olympics, after losing to Sweden earlier today.

The 3-time Omyplic winners had never been eliminated at such an early stage, and it’s an embarrassingly early exit for the defending world champions.

Hope Solo just a little bitter

And losing is often a tough pill to take for serial winners, as is clear from Hope Solo’s post-game comments.

The 35-year-old keeper, who has won over 200 caps for the USWNT, is one of the most recognized names in women’s football, and her comment always garner plenty of attention.

And in this case, Solo’s comments will inevitably cause plenty of ink to spill, as the goalkeeper showed incredible bitterness in the aftermath of the defeat.

Sounding uncannily like Cristiano Ronaldo at Euro 2016, when the Portuguese patronized Iceland after they held Portugal to a 1-1 draw, Solo labelled the Swedes as ‘cowards’ for their defensive display.

Journalist Grant Wahl tried to contextualize Solo’s comments by tweeting her entire quote, but that doesn’t do much to dissipate what are undeniably very bitter comments.
