According to a report from Goal.com this evening, West Ham United are readying a bid for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
The Hammers have been on the lookout for a new centre-forward to lead the line at the Olympic Stadium for some time now, with a move for Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho having fallen through last month.
The latest name on the wishlist of West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is Frenchman Giroud, with the club ready to offer London rivals Arsenal £20 million for the former Montpellier star.
A contract worth £100,000 per week is also said to be in the offing.
Despite an impressive goals per minute ratio, Giroud failed to hold down a regular starting spot under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates this past season, with both Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck usurping the 30-year-old for extended periods.
And, with Wenger rumoured to be eyeing up a marquee signing for the North London club’s centre-forward berth for next season, Giroud could become very much available to suitors over the coming weeks.
