Arsene Wenger

Valencia & Arsenal’s Brazilian deal

Valencia & Arsenal

Arsenal are likely to complete a bit of business on Thursday.

But rather than buying, Arsene Wenger is poised to allow one of his defenders to go.

Reports are widespread in Spain that Arsenal’s Brazilian defender Gabriel is on the verge of signing for Valencia.

It’s believed that Gabriel will cost Valencia around £10 million.

Gabriel’s Arsenal record

Gabriel, 26, has been at Arsenal for two and half years since joining from Villarreal in an £11.3 million deal.

In his short spell at the Gunners, the Brazilian won the FA Cup and the Community Shield twice.

Will Arsenal fans be sad to see Gabriel leave? Probably not so much, with the Mirror summing up his days at the Emirates Stadium as follows:

Gabriel struggled to hold down a regular place and now Arsenal have a depth of defensive options they are willing to sell with Valencia confident of getting a deal done.

It looked as if Gabriel might struggle to leave in this window because he is still recovering after a knee ligament injury suffered in the final Premier League game of last season against Everton.

Valencia have teased their own supporters ahead of confirming the Gabriel signing by posting the following video on social media.

Future Arsenal sales

Arsenal are likely to see more players leave the club before the summer window closes at the end of the month.

Mathieu Debuchy, Carl Jenkinson, Kieran Gibbs, Calum Chambers and Lucas Perez are all set to leave the club this summer.

As for Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and star player Alexis Sanchez, despite all three players only having one year left on their current contracts, they are set to stay at Arsenal.
