Spurs to move for Wilfried Zaha. Again
Some Spurs fans scoffed at the links with Wilfried Zaha in the summer, but the Crystal Palace winger has gone on to have a fantastic season for Crystal Palace so far.
Zaha is set to make his first appearance under new Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce on Boxing Day, in the early game at Watford this afternoon.
Ahead of the Premier League match, Zaha has been linked with Tottenham yet again, in both The Times and Daily Star.
Gary Jacob reveals in The Times that Spurs’ final offer in the summer was 21 million pounds. They are now expected to offer 25 million pounds in the January transfer window.
Zaha keen for a wage increase
Crucially, Jacob points out: “Zaha told Palace that he wanted to leave in the summer, but when Tottenham’s bid fell through he hoped to be given a pay rise. He earns about £40,000 a week under his existing four-year deal, which he signed when his move back from Manchester United was made permanent in February 2015, but has not signed an improved contract.”
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was asked about signing Zaha in January ahead of his sides match at Southampton on Wednesday.
Pohettino said: “I don’t want to speak about the player in another club.”
Zaha has two-and-a-half years left on his Crystal Palace contract.
