Thomas Tuchel to replace Antonio Conte at Chelsea

Antonio Conte & Chelsea

Chelsea fans have received shock news on Wednesday.

According to leading German daily Bild, former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has been lined up to replace Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

Conte has been tipped to walk out of Stamford Bridge during the summer.

Those claims have surfaced as the Blues has found the summer transfer window something of a slog.

While the Premier League champs have signed Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Toni Rudiger, all those signings have replaced outing players: Diego Costa, John Terry and Nemanja Matic.

Will Conte really leave Chelsea after they just beat Tottenham at Wembley?

Yes, say Bild, who remind readers that Chelsea lost the Community Shield to Arsenal as well as losing to Burnley in their first home match of the campaign.

Conte has fallen out with senior Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia, report Bild, and Granovskaia has lined up Thomas Tuchel as the club’s next boss.

Not only that, but Chelsea have a plan B in place if Tuchel ultimately proves unattainable. Former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is the second choice on Chelsea’s list.

Tuchel at Dortmund

Back in May, Borussia Dortmund parted ways with Thomas Tuchel.

In his debut term Tuchel was able to enliven a Dortmund side that had grown stale under the guidance of former manager Jurgen Klopp, as they totted up 78 points to finish in second place behind Bayern Munich—the highest points haul in the Bundesliga for a runner-up.

The second season also had its highs, with Tuchel leading Dortmund to the DFB-Pokal, which was the club’s first piece of silverware for five years. BVB finished the season in third place behind Bayern and Bundesliga newboys RB Leipzig.
