Tottenham & AZ Alkmaar’s Vincent Janssen
On Friday’s there’s been a significant update in Tottenham’s attempts to sign the in-demand Dutch striker of the moment: Vincent Janssen.
The 21-year-old forward had an amazing 2015-16 season for AZ Alkmaar where he scored 25 goals in 34 games in the Dutch top flight.
He’s also taken to international football like a duck to water, scoring three goals in his first five appearances for the national team.
While Spurs have Harry Kane, arguably the best striker in England and the Premier League’s top scorer, they have little in reserve to back up their star man. The other attacking options are support strikers.
Spurs make a third official bid
According to Dutch daily Telegraaf, Tottenham posted a third official bid for Janssen last night.
The paper claim Spurs’ first bid was 10 million euros (plus 2.5 million euros in bonuses), which was rejected. The second offer was for 12.5 million euros (plus 2.5 million euros in bonuses), which was also rejected. But last night Spurs offered 14 million euros to be spread over three years.
Details of the bids definitely sounds like the work of Daniel Levy.
But in bad news for the Lillywhites, AZ are again batting away the bid. Alkmaar are holding out for 20 million euros.
The article tails off noting that Janssen earns 400,000 euros a season in Holland, while Spurs would pay him three million euros a year, while Wolfsburg are also named as a possible suitor for the striker.
