Brazilian side Santos have not lodged an official complaint to FIFA over Barcelona’s approach for midfielder Lucas Lima, it has been revealed.
It was confirmed last week that La Liga giants Barcelona had agreed a deal to take Selecao star Lima to the Camp Nou in December of this year, upon the expiration of his contract with the Brasileiro side.
However, the Catalan club were quickly accused of tapping up Lima prior to the deal being leaked, with reports spreading that Santos would be taking the matter to world football’s governing body, FIFA.
However, in an interview with ESPN this afternoon, a spokesperson for FIFA has ensured that such rumours were wide of the mark, with, at least for the time being, no complaint having been lodged:
‘We have not received any claim from Santos against Barcelona.’, the unnamed source assured.
