The longest transfer saga of the summer of 2015 could be about to be drawn to a conclusion, if the front page of Marca is right.
According to the Spanish paper, negotiations between Real Madrid and Manchester United for goalie David De Gea are in the final stages.
Marca report that Real Madrid will pay €25 million up front for De Gea, while Los Blancos are committed to paying another €5 million in variable add-ons.
As to the terms of De Gea’s proposed contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, rumours are flying around that the 24-year-old will earn €6 million a year in wages.
Should the deal come to pass, it will be interesting to see how Rafa Benitez juggles having Iker Casillas and De Gea on his books.
Iker Casillas has two years left on his contract at Real Madrid and is expected to see out his deal even if De Gea joins.
For the record, De Gea’s contract at Man United expires at in 2016.
