Philippe Coutinho ups the ante to push through Barcelona move from Liverpool

Hoffenheim 1 – Liverpool 2

Liverpool emerged as 2-1 winners over Hoffenheim in the Champions League play-off first leg on Tuesday evening.

It was another helter skelter match for Liverpool with their attack looking electrifying and their defence struggling to contain the “Village Team”.

Hoffenheim were arguably the better team on the night but it has left Barcelona in a sticky position.

As Barcelona continue to chase Coutinho, had Hoffenheim taken an advantage in the first leg, the Catalans might have smelt an opportunity.

Instead, the Catalan press have gone with a different line on Wednesday.

Philippe Coutinho refuses to play for Liverpool again

Mundo Deportivo report on Wednesday that Philippe Coutinho is now putting even more pressure on Liverpool to sell him to Barcelona.

Coutinho does not want to miss the opportunity to play for Barcelona and has told Liverpool he will never play for them again.

The Brazilian superstar has informed Jurgen Klopp that he does not plan to wear a Liverpool shirt again.

Even at the risk of missing out on a place in the Brazil World Cup squad, Coutinho is desperate to push for his move to Barcelona.

What now for Coutinho, Barcelona and Liverpool?

Having been at Liverpool since January 2013, Coutinho now feels he has given enough service to Liverpool.

Coutinho believes he has shown respect and acted honourably throughout his time at Liverpool.

Having asked to leave Liverpool amicably last week, Coutinhi is frustrated that he is unable to make his dream move to Barcelona.

The Brazilian missed the win at Hoffenheim and the draw at Watford with a “back injury”. It seems certain that Coutinho will not play versus Crystal Palace on Saturday.

There are no similar claims about Coutinho in the English or Brazilian press today.
