Everton land Lewis Gibson
On the same day that Everton’s 2017-18 campaign restarts in the Europa League, the Toffees have announced yet another new summer signing.
In what could be a huge deal in a few years time, Everton have snared 17-year-old defender Lewis Gibson from Newcastle.
Gibson has agreed a three year deal with the Toffees.

A busy summer
Romelu Lukaku has joined Man United, but Everton have brought in a series of new faces this summer.
That’s included Jordan Pickford, Sandro Ramirez, Davy Klaassen, Michael Keane and Wayne Rooney.
The club are also still chasing Swansea playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson, while Ross Barkley seems certain to be heading out the Goodison Park exit door.
Who is Gibson?
Everton have revealed their new player to their fans as follows:
A product of Newcastle’s Academy, Gibson was a regular starter in the north east club’s Under-18s side last season and, after impressing, he was promoted to their reserve team.
His form for the Magpies earned him a call-up to England’s Under-17s side for this summer’s European Championships in which he was an ever-present as the Young Lions were beaten on penalties in the final by Spain.
Rather than joining Ronald Koeman’s first team, Gibson will begin his life at Everton playing for the U23s.
Everton could end up paying six million pounds to Newcastle for the teenager.
