Manchester United had a bid of £85m rejected for Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller last summer, a Bayern chief has revealed.
The 27-year-old is one of the most recognisable names in German football and has impressed for several years, especially on the international stage.
Muller has been a long-term target for United and the club seemingly went all out for the player last year.
The German has scored only one goal so far this season in which could see Bayern regret rejecting the deal.
An astonishing £85m bid was knocked back by the German Giants which then would have been a record deal for the club.
Executive vice-chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen confirmed there was an offer, but it was rejected.
“If a player fits us, we would be stupid to give him a short-term prospect of a record profit and to weaken him,” he explained.
Muller under Carlo ain't working out, i can see him moving, he don't fit in Carlos formation and has struggled this season

United have eyes on Griezmann
Jose Mourinho’s side seem to have their eyes set firmly on the signing of Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.
The player has entertained speculation in the past but seemingly the deal is becoming more and more difficult.
Time will tell whether the player could make the move in the future, but there is little doubt that United want the player.
