Manchester City winger wants to join Celtic on a permanent basis

Good news for Celtic

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton delivered some positive transfer news to Celtic fans during an interview with BT Sport.

Sutton is confident that Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts will sign for the Scottish champions.

Man City exit

Roberts spent last season on loan at Celtic, and half of the season before that as well. In all, the 20-year-old has made 60 appearances for Brendan Rogers’ club.

Despite featuring in pre-season for Pep Guardiola’s side, the England U20 international is unlikely to get much game time at the Etihad this season.

Roberts’ only Premier League appearance for City came back in the first half of the 2015-16 season, prior to his first loan spell at Celtic Park.

Were he to join on a permanent basis, Roberts would be one of four former City players at the club, along with Dedryck Boyata, Scott Sinclair and Olivier Ntcham, who joined earlier in the window.
